After playing two seasons at La Salle, Mott made an immediate impact at Coppin, receiving First Team All-MEAC and All-Tournament Team honors in both of his seasons as well as being named the 1996 MEAC Player of the Year. He also earned Extra Point Club All-America honors in both seasons, joining Larry Stewart as the only CSU players to earn the recognition twice. Helping the Eagles to a 1997 MEAC Title, he recorded a double-double in Coppin’s upset over #2 South Carolina before tallying 16 points against Texas in the Second Round. In just 56 games with the Navy & Gold, he ranks second in CSU history with a 59.4 field goal percentage, third with 8.1 rebounds per game, sixth with 16.9 points per game and blocked 67 shots. Mott played professionally in Europe, Asia, South America and in the CBA where he earned All-League honors twice.

In 2020, he was named to the MEAC’s 50th Anniversary Men’s Basketball Team.
