TEMPE, Ariz. – Coppin State's men's and women's tennis teams were both recognized as 2024 Division I Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Teams, it was announced by the organization on Monday afternoon. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, the program must have a 3.2 grade point average.
Additionally, the ITA also released it's Scholar-Athlete Awards where the athlete must have at least a 3.50 GPA for the academic year. Seven Eagles received the honor, including
Ulugbek Abdurakhmonov,
Vansh Kapoor and
Tinashe Whata from the men's team, and
Indy Ampaw,
Alison Azarak,
Emperess Johnson and
Shakyia Johnson of the women's team.
Coppin was one of four men's teams and four women's teams from the MEAC to receive the team award.
Overall, the ITA recognized 431 Division I programs and 2,632 athletes for their academic prowess.
