BALTIMORE – Coppin State University Head Tennis Coach
Ebonye Jones announced the signing of
Malcolm Moore to the Eagles' 2026 recruiting class. Moore, a senior at the Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy in Dallas, brings exceptional on-court credentials alongside a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, global service, and youth development that reflects Coppin State's values.
Moore arrives as a three-time UIL District Champion and regional qualifier, capping his 2024 campaign as runner-up at the UIL State Tennis Championship and a 2025 semifinalists. Beyond competitive rankings, Malcolm has earned National Honor Society recognition and national distinction from the Congress of Future Medical Leaders, underscoring his commitment to pre-medical studies and a future in medicine.
Off the court, Moore's leadership extends across continents. As a Youth Ambassador for Water for West Africa, he has contributed to bringing clean drinking water to villages in Northern Ghana. In the spring of 2025, Malcolm launched "Across the Net"–Northern Ghana, a tennis and youth development initiative designed to reach over 5,000 students and families, positioning tennis as a catalyst for education, sportsmanship, and opportunity.
In 2024, Moore completed a month-long language and cultural immersion program in Berlin through the CIEE Global Navigator initiative and also represented his school at an international SCORA summit in Stuttgart, Germany, joining student leaders from the U.S., Germany, India, and Israel in collaborative efforts opposing racism and anti-Semitism.
"Malcolm is exactly the kind of student-athlete we strive to build our program around," said Head Coach
Ebonye Jones. "He brings not only competitiveness and technical skill to our lineup but also integrity, intellectual curiosity, and a drive to grow. Our goal is to cultivate a program built on well-rounded talent—players who elevate the team athletically, academically, and personally—and Malcolm embodies that standard. He understands that his platform as an athlete is an opportunity to serve his community and the world."
Moore will join a Coppin State team continuing to strengthen its presence within the MEAC. Under Coach Jones's leadership, the Eagles have prioritized developing a balanced roster that values academic achievement and community engagement as much as competitive excellence.
