CARY, N.C. – Coppin State's men's tennis teams' season came to an end with a 4-0 loss to #3 Norfolk State in the MEAC Quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon at Cary Tennis Park. The Eagles fell to 1-14 while the Spartans moved to 13-10.
NSU earned the doubles point with 6-1 victories at Nos. 1 and 2 against the duos of
Ulugbek Abdurahmonov/Aidan Thomas-Cogar and
Andre Dogbefu/Liam Murtaugh.
Dentry Mortimer and
Flavius Henderson II trailed, 4-1 when the Spartans clinched the first point of the match.
Rishi Jalota, Murtaugh and Thomas-Cogar dropped their singles matches in the first, fourth and sixth flights as Norfolk picked up their fourth point to clinch the match. Dogbefu and Henderson won four games in their first sets while Henderson was ahead, 2-1 in the second before going unfinished.
