Coppin State Tennis Falls to North Carolina Central in MEAC Home Opener

BALTIMORE, Md. – The men's tennis team at Coppin State University opened up MEAC play for the 2017 season falling to North Carolina Central, 4-3, on Friday afternoon on the campus of Coppin State University.

Coppin State drops to 0-2 overall while NC Central improves to 1-5 overall record.

After falling 3-0 in doubles action, Coppin State rebounded with three victories in singles play. Sophomore Andres Diaz picked up the Eagles first victory of the match at No. 4 defeating Maksym Konovakov 0-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5). Coppin State swept the last three singles points with junior Gavin Lewis winning 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6) at No. 5 versus Brooks Campbell followed by sophomore Zaipo Oula's win at No. 6 over Dillon Strepay, 6-7l 6-3, 1-0 (11-9).

Coppin State heads to Newark, DE on Monday, March 6th for an away match against Delaware at 3 p.m.
