WHEATON, Md. – The Coppin State University men's tennis team opened their 2025 season with a hard-fought match against College of Charleston. Despite a 7-0 defeat, the Eagles displayed resilience and determination, battling through competitive sets in both singles and doubles play.
Several Coppin State players showed promise in singles action, including
Liam Murtaugh, who put up a strong fight in a 6-4, 6-2 loss. The doubles team of Murtaugh and
Harsh Kheterpal also put together a competitive effort before coming up short.
Head Coach
Ebonye Jones expressed optimism for the rest of the season despite the challenging start. "The score doesn't reflect the effort and fight these guys showed today. We faced a tough opponent, but we stayed competitive in key moments. This is just the beginning, and I know we'll continue to grow and improve as the season progresses."
Coppin State will look to build on this experience as they prepare for their next match against George Mason University.
