Men’s Tennis Signs Daniel Wachira for 2024-25 Season

BALTIMORE – Coppin State head tennis coach Ebonye Jones announced on Monday that Daniel Wachira (Norwalk, Conn. / Norwalk HS) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Eagles men's tennis program for the 2024-25 season.
 
A three-time First Team All-State selection, Wachira played No. 1 singles for Norwalk for three seasons and finished his senior year at 13-2 overall. He advanced to the semifinals at State's before falling to the eventual champion. Wachira was an honor roll student and a member of Norwalk's Robotics Team and Coding Club.
 
"We are thrilled to announce the signing of Daniel Wachira to our Men's Tennis program!" said Jones "Daniel is a highly decorated athlete with a proven track record of success on the court. His three-time CASCIAC All-State First Team honors and impressive record over his high school career speak volumes about his talent and dedication. Reaching the State Invitational Semifinals twice further demonstrates his ability to perform under pressure."
 
Wachira's accomplishments extend beyond the state level. He earned a coveted spot in the prestigious USTA Foundation's AMEX Excellence Cup, competing against the nation's top junior players at the iconic Billie Jean King Tennis Center. Not only did he secure a remarkable third-place finish, but he also received the Excellence Cup Sportsmanship Award.
