First Set Singles Victories Results in a Defeat to Charleston

BALTIMORE, MD: With all singles matches resulting in first set wins, Coppin falls to Charleston 6-0 on Sunday afternoon. Men's tennis is now 0-9 for the season which Charleston advances to 7-8.  

Luka Markovic, Vansh Kapoor, and Anas Haddou each won the first sets of their singles matches. Markovic engaged in a back and fourth match against Larke at first singles. After a 5-5 tie, Markovic took lead and won the tiebreaker to advance a 7-6 victory of the set. He trailed 2-3 in the second set before the match went unfinished.  

Kapoor held strong at second singles against Krick. With a 6-3 victory in the first set, and a loss at 6-2 in the second set, he ended up trailing the third set before the match deemed unfinished.  

At number three singles, Haddou beat Borges in the first set 6-2. He fell short 4-6 in the second set then later dropped the third set 6-0.  

In doubles play, Markovic and Kapoor paired up at first doubles against Krick and Bernardi where they dropped 6-3. Rishi Jalota and Haddou matched up at second doubles against Wang and Larke for a 5-3 loss.  

Up next: The Eagles will host Hartford CC on Tuesday, April 4th at Coppin Tennis Courts for a 1pm first serve.
