Baltimore, MD: Men's tennis defeated Howard University and Loyola University Maryland for their fall season debut at the Greyhounds Men's Tennis Classics. Vansh Kapoor and Harsh Kheterpal advanced to the semifinals after defeating Howard University 3-0 in round one, and Loyola University in the Quarterfinals. Kwaku Agyeman and Liam Murtaugh won the Consolation Championship against Loyola.
Kapoor and Kheterpal paired up against Howard University for a 3-0 victory against Knowles and Westbrook in round one. The Eagles started off with a 6-3 doubles victory against Howard.
Kapoor matched up against Knowles in singles play. After a 3-6 loss in the first set, Kapoor swept Knowles 6-0 in set two. Kapoor went to win the third set tiebreaker 10-7 for a match win. Kheterpal defeated Westbrook in two sets (6-1, 6-2).
In the quarterfinals, Kapoor and Kheterpal beat Loyola 2-1. After dropping 6-2 in doubles against Davey and Zeiders, Kapoor went to beat Davey singles play (6-2, 6-3). Kheterpal also won in singles against Zeiders in a long played match. After losing to Zeiders in 6-7 in the first set, Kheterpal went on to win the second set 6-4, and won the third set tiebreaker (10-5).
The Eagles then advanced to the semifinals on day three against Howard University's Dunac/Lash. The Eagles lost 6-3 in doubles play. Kapoor won five games in a loss to Dunac, while Kheterpal dropped to Lash in two sets. "This is a new team and we have the potential to be the best in the conference, we just need to focus on consistency and making smart plays" stated Kapoor.
Murthaugh and Ageman advanced to the consolation championship against Loyola University after dropping to Howard 3-0 in round one. Despite a 6-3 doubles loss, Murtaugh beat Bulger in singles play 8-7, while Agyeman defeated Ocker 8-5. The Eagles went to win the Consolation Championship with a final score of 2-1.
