Men's Tennis lost to Lafayette After Series of Close Matches

ALLENTOWN, Pa.-The Coppin State men's tennis team was shy of one point in defeat to Lafayette on the road this Saturday, with a final score of 4-3.  

Sergiu Medesan and Vansh Kapoor crushed it in doubles play with a  6-3 victory. After evening out with the Leopards at 2-2, Medesan and Kapoor won three straight games to pull away to take a 5-2 lead, and never looked back.  

Anas Haddou and Luka Markovic grabbed their first doubles win of the season with a 7-5 win.  

In singles play, the Eagles won two of their matches in a series of heated battles.   Kapoor defeated Davis Esslinger in a two set match. After winning the first set 6-2, Kapoor trailed 5-4 in a serve dominant second set but made a comeback and won three straight games with a 7-5 victory. 

Haddou gained another point for Coppin, with a victory over Oliver Fiallo. He won the first set 6-2, and dominated the second set 6-1.  

Medesan played a three set match against William Barey. After splitting the first two sets, Medesan won eight games, but lost the third set and lost 10-8.  

Markovic also had a tight singles battle against Arman Ganchi. After loosing the first set 6-3, he fought hard in the second set after trailing 5-3. Markovic went on a two-game win streak to tie the set 5-5. Ganchi ended up taking lead and won the set 7-5.  

Dean Waterman competed in singles and lost his match to Josh Wolfe.  

The Eagles are back in action against Longwood on Wednesday, February 23 in Washington D.C.
