Medesan Victorious in Singles Play for Men’s Tennis Against Villanova

Box Score PIKESVILLE, Md. – Sergiu Medesan won his singles match, but the Coppin State men's tennis team fell to Villanova, 6-1, on Friday afternoon at Coppermine Indoor Tennis Facility.
 
A junior from Romania, Medesan dropped the opening set at No. 2 singles, but rebounded with a 6-3 victory in the second set before taking the match with a 10-5 win in the tiebreaker.  Medesan and Vansh Kapoor were narrowly defeated in their No. 1 doubles match, falling 7-6 (7-4).
 
Villanova took the other two doubles matches, 6-1, in the second position over Christopher Green and Dean Waterman, and 6-2 at No. 3 doubles against Henrique Sada and Michael Michael
 
Sada was able to muster four games in the second game in a loss at No.1 singles while Michael dropped his match in the third flight, 7-5, 6-3.  Kapoor won a pair of games in his defeat at No. 4 singles, while Waterman and Green also lost in straight sets.
 
The Eagles return to action when it travels to George Mason for a 12 pm start on Sunday, March 14.
