Shorthanded Men’s Tennis Blanked at Villanova

Box Score VILLANOVA, Pa. – Coppin State's men's tennis team was shutout at Villanova, 7-0 on Saturday afternoon, falling to 0-2 on the season.
 
Sam Scala-McNeill and Sergiu Medesan battled in the No. 1 doubles spot but ended up falling by a 6-3 margin.  Henrique Sada and Dean Waterman dropped a 6-1 match in the second position as the Wildcats took the doubles point.
 
The shorthanded Eagles forfeited singles matches in the fifth and sixth spots and the Wildcats won the remaining four positions to win the match.  Medesan and Sada each won three games in their opening sets before falling, 6-1 in the second sets at Nos. 1 and 3 singles, respectively.  Scala-McNeill won one game in the second singles flight.
 
CSU returns to the court on Friday, February 14 when its hosts UC Riverside.
