Medesan Picks Up Singles Victory as Men’s Tennis Falls at Lafayette

Box Score EASTON, Pa. - Sergiu Medesan picked up an individual victory as Coppin State's men's tennis team dropped a toughly contested season opener at Lafayette College, 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at Winning Touch Indoor Facility.
 
Medesan earned a singles win at the No. 3 slot with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Daniel Kramer, but that was the only win mustered by the Eagles on the day.
 
The Eagles dropped a pair of close doubles matches to start the day as Medesan paired with Sam Scala-McNeill while Henrique Sada teamed with Quincy Pettis.  Both CSU pairs fell, 6-4.
 
Scala-McNeill forced a seventh game in the first set at No. 1 singles, but fell, 7-5, 6-2, while Sada dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision in the second position.  Dean Waterman took a game in each set of his loss while Pettis fell, 6-0, 6-1.
 
CSU returns to the court on Saturday, February 8 at Villanova before hosting UC Riverside on Friday, February 14.
