VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Coppin State men's tennis team fell at MEAC rival Hampton, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon at Virginia Beach Tennis & Country Club.
Victorious in all three doubles matches by 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0 margins, the Pirates collected the point going into singles play.
The top three Eagles singles players of
Jorge Rodriguez Rey, Andres Diaz and
Gavin Lewis all turned in solid efforts but dropped their matches. Rodriguez Rey fell, 6-4, 6-3 while Diaz was defeated, 6-3, 6-2. Lewis took the loss despite winning three games in each set.
CSU returns to the court on Monday, April 16 for a 1 pm start at Norfolk State.
