BALTIMORE, Md. – The duo of
Jorge Rodriguez Rey and
Gavin Lewis earned a 7-6 victory at No. 1 doubles but it was not enough as La Salle blanked Coppin State's men's tennis team, 7-0, on Thursday afternoon.
Gabriel Franca and
Zaipo Oula dropped a 6-1 decision in the second position as the Explorers took the doubles point.
In singles play, Rodriguez Rey took three games in each of his sets in the first spot while Lewis went to a tiebreaker at No. 2 singles before going down, 6-0 in the second set. Franca,
Igor Zapparoli De Souza and Oula each managed single games in their defeats.
Coppin returns to action at 2 pm on Saturday, March 31 at Rider.
