Women’s Track & Field Places Ninth at 2017 MEAC Outdoor Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Coppin State women's track and field team placed ninth with 48 points at the 2017 MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, May 6th. The Eagle won a gold medal in the heptathlon, while placing second in the high jump, long jump and discuss with a bronze medal in the pole vault.

On day three, sophomore Savannah Forte set a new school record in the pole vault winning a bronze medal at 3.19 meters.

Freshman Aidan Alston placed fourth in the javelin with the second best mark in school history at 38.03 meters. Sophomore Chontel Fils was sixth in the triple jump at 11.77 meters.

Sophomore Khemani Roberts set a new MEAC outdoor conference championship record with 5,036 points in the heptathlon. Roberts was second in the high jump at 1.71 meters.

Junior Kristen Deacon was second in the discus with a mark of 43.40 meters and senior Kiersten Bond was second in the long jump with a personal record of 5.87 meters.
