BALTIMORE, Md. – The Coppin State women's tennis team fell to 1-6 on the season after suffering a 6-1 loss at the hands of Rider on Sunday, April 2
nd at the CSU Tennis Courts.

Carentxa Goede defeated Rider's team of Amanda Binder and Caitlin Gardner 7-5. Rider's Vanessa Canda and Cyd Melendez bested sophomores
Tanna Nita and
Precious Udofe, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. Then at the third flight freshmen
Ajla Hrnjic and
Brittanie Cahua fell 6-3 in their match guaranteeing Rider the doubles point.
The singles play was highlighted by Cahua's win at No. 4 over Binder. Cahua recorded her second singles win of the season with a strong 6-3, 6-3 performance. Rider swept the rest of the match points with Canda downed Udofe (6-1, 6-0) at No. 1 not long before Melendez took down Nita 6-0, 6-0. Gwaze suffered a 6-0, 6-1 loss in the fifth slot and Hrnjic was downed 6-1, 6-4 to round things out at No. 6.
Coppin State will prepare for an upcoming four game road trip beginning with a MEAC matchup at Howard University on Wednesday, April 8
th at 2 p.m. in Washington, DC.
