FAIRFAX, Va. – The Coppin State University women's tennis team kicked off their 2025 season with a competitive road match against George Mason University. Despite a valiant effort, the Eagles fell 7-0 to the Patriots, with multiple matches coming down to the wire in tiebreakers.

Leading the charge for Coppin State were Megan Etienne, Kyla Proctor, and Brandy Babcock-Hannah, each displaying resilience in singles play. Etienne fought through a tightly contested match against Maya Bayat, forcing a tiebreaker before ultimately falling 10-12. Proctor battled hard in her matchup but was edged out in the decider. Babcock-Hannah also took her opponent to the limit in a thrilling third-set tiebreak before coming up just short.

In doubles play, the duo of Etienne and Babcock-Hannah competed well but were unable to overcome George Mason's strong pairings.

"This match was a testament to our team's fight and determination," said Coppin State head coach Ebonye Jones. "Megan, Kyla, and Brandy showed tremendous heart in their matches, and we will build on this experience as we move forward in the season."

Coppin State will look to bounce back in their next match against Lafayette College on March 2, 2015.
