BALTIMORE, Md. – The women's track and field team at Coppin State University placed sixth with 53 team points at the Morgan State Legacy Meet on Saturday, April 22
nd. The Eagles won the women's pole vault and heptathlon competitions to go along with ten top-10 finishes.
Sophomore
Khemani Roberts won the heptathlon at the 2017 Morgan State Legacy Track & Field Meet. Roberts tallied a new school record with 5,038 points winning the heptathlon high jump (1.69m), 100 meters (14.86), 200 meters (24.80) and shot put (12.34m) events. Her measure in the shot put qualifies her for the MEAC Championship and ranks 14
th on the conference list. In both the 100 meter hurdles and the 200 meter dash she ran a pair of team season fastest times.
Junior
Savannah Forte won the pole vault competition leaping a personal best mark of 2.71 meters ranking 10
th on the conference list.
Senior
Kiersten Bond was fifth in the long jump recording a team best mark of the season at 5.64 meters. Sophomore
Chontel Fils also shined in the long jump event qualifying for the MEAC Championships with a 10
th place finish at 5.50 meters which also ranks 11
th on the conference list.
Junior Kiersten Deacon came third in both the hammer (48.67m) and discus (39.61m) events.
Freshman
Tatiana Ogundeko qualified for the upcoming MEAC Outdoor Championships with a 14
th place finish in the 1500 meter event. Ogundeko ran a season fastest time of 5:00.11 ranking 18
th on the conference list.
Junior
Breana Hagwood placed fifth in the 100 hurdles with a team season fastest time at 14.89 seconds. Her time ranks 20
th in the conference falling just shy of the MEAC outdoor qualifying time (14.85) in the 100 hurdles.
Freshman
Tre'J Johnson placed fourth in the heptathlon collecting 3,950 points. In the high jump pentathlon Johnson was fourth with a season-best mark of 1.51 meters ranking 18
th in the conference. In the triple jump she improved her mark at 11.24 meters placing fifth.
Freshman
Jasmine Henery clocked in at 1:10.15 in the 400 hurdles placing 21
st but posting the team's fastest time of the season in the event. Freshman
Aidan Alston was seventh in the javelin throw.
Coppin State heads to the historical Penn Relays on Thursday, April 27
th and Friday, April 28
th in Philadelphia, PA.
