BALTIMORE, Md. – Coppin State women's tennis team opened up their 2017 spring season with a 7-0 loss to Longwood on Tuesday, February 28
th at the CSU Tennis Courts.
Freshman
Brittanie Cahua battled in No. 2 singles action and posted two points. In the end, Cahua was downed (6-2, 6-0) to Marija Venta. Senior
Carentxa Goede suffered a defeat at No. 1 singles to Jamie Breunig (6-1, 6-0). Sophomore
Precious Udofe also had two points in her match at No. 3 against Paloma Alatorre losing (6-2, 6-0).
In doubles play, the Coppin State No. 2 duo of Carentxa Geode and
Precious Udofe fell 6-3 to Longwood. CSU's No. 3 team of
Brittanie Cahua and freshman
Ajla Hrnjic dropped their match 6-1 while the No. 1 pair of freshman
Tinashe Gwaze and sophomore
Tanna Nita was shutout 6-0.
The Eagles fall to 0-2 on the year and will head to Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday, March 4
th for a 2pm meeting against the Hawks opening MEAC play.
