COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Junior
Kristen Deacon set a new personal record in the women's weight throw competition at the Terrapin Invitational on Saturday, January 20
th on the campus of the University of Maryland.
The Eagles women's indoor track and field team placed eighth overall out of 15 teams with 26 points. Coppin State had nine top-10 finishes in their fifth meet of the season.
The field events had a strong presence leading the way for Coppin State. Deacon shined for the throwers while sophomore
Chontel Fils paced the jumpers.
Deacon placed fourth in the women's weight throw with a personal best measure of 17.25m (56' 7.25") at the Terrapin Invitational. She also competed in the shot put event and placed 13
th at 11.19 meters (36'8.25").
Fils had a season-best performance in the women's triple jump placing fourth at 11.68 meters (38"4'). She placed fifth in the long jump at 5.40 meters (17"8.75').
Freshman
Tre'J Johnson had a pair of season-best marks in both the triple jump and long jump events. Johnson placed sixth in the triple jump (11.54m) and ninth in the long jump (5.17m). Senior
Kiersten Bond also competed in the women's long jump and placed eighth overall (5.26m).
Sophomore
Khemani Roberts placed fourth in the high jump event at 1.58 meters while freshmen Jasmine Lougheed had a ninth place finish in the women's pole vault event.
On the track, Coppin State's 4x400 meter relay 'A' team of senior

Chontel Fils placed ninth overall with a time of 4:07.86.
The Eagles head to Fairfax, VA for their next meet on Friday, January 27
th for the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason University.
