HAMPTON – Senior
Deandra Daniel won the women's high jump event at the 2016 Hampton University Relays on Saturday, April 16
th. The Lady Eagles had three individuals placing in the top-ten.
Coppin State University women's track and field team competed in their eighth outdoor event of the season with three scheduled meets to come prior to their 2016 MEAC Championships in Greensboro, NC beginning on May 5
th.
The Lady Eagles had a pair of top performances in the field events by senior
Deandra Daniel and junior
Kiersten Bond. Daniel placed first out of 14 competitors in the women's high jump event at 1.73 meters. This marks her second first place finish in the event this outdoor season. Bond was ninth in the women's long jump event with a season-best measure of 5.44 meters.
On the track,
Breana Hagwood and
Khemani Roberts carried the load in the hurdles. Sophomore
Breana Hagwood placed sixth in the 400 meter hurdle (1:08.33) and tenth in the 100 meter hurdle (15.19) events. Freshman
Khemani Roberts competed in the 100 meter hurdles and placed 14
th with a time of 16.46 seconds.
The Lady Eagles will compete next at the Morgan State Legacy Meet on Friday, April 22
nd in Baltimore, MD.
