Eagles Battle Morgan State On Homecoming 2016

BALTIMORE - Coppin State (7-20, 5-9) takes on Morgan State (7-20, 5-9) on Saturday afternoon in a MEAC game that will also be Senior Day at the PEC Arena and Homecoming 2016. Game time is 4 p.m. (ET). Since both teams joined the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference the programs have met 81 times, with Coppin State leading the series 53-28. The Eagles fell in their earlier meeting on February 1, 2016 (83-43).

ABOUT THE EAGLES
· The Eagles have gone 7-20, and have just two regular-season games remaining, one on the road this week and their finale on the road next Thursday …  Coppin State is 2-5 in the month of February with two key home wins coming against Howard 90-66 (Feb. 13) and against NC Central 71-60 (Feb. 18) … Last month in January, CSU went 3-2 with key road wins against Bethune Cookman and Florida A&M … In November they won back-to-back games against Division II opponents Goldey-Beacom and Chestnut Hill.
· Most recently, junior forward Mufaro Miranda scored a career-high 17 points off of the bench in a televised game at Norfolk State … Murinda knocked down four three pointers while going 5-for-10 from the field in 18 minutes. Christian Kessee  scored 18 or more points for the fifth consecutive game finishing with a team-high 18 points off of five made three pointers. The Eagles fell on the road to the Spartans 85-77.
· The Eagles are currently amidst a six-game stretch that features four home games and two road  games to close out the regular season … following the Eagles Senior Day and Homecoming game against rival Morgan State University (Feb. 27) Coppin State will close the regular-season schedule on the road versus Delaware State (Mar. 3).
· Coppin State has made a 3-PT FG in 186 consecutive games, the longest streak in the NCAA.

THIS SATURDAY
· With just two games left in the regular season, Coppin State will host Morgan State on Saturday, Feb. 27. Game time is 4 p.m. Earlier this season Morgan State downed the Eagles 83-43 in the Hill Field House on Feb. 1. Most recently, Morgan State (7-20, 5-9) won a pair of games at home versus NC A&T (W 72-51) and Norfolk State (W 89-72) last Monday and Wednesday. Senior center Cedric Blossom leads the team in scoring (14.0 ppg).
 
ABOUT THE BEARS
· Under the direction of tenth-year head coach Todd Bozeman, Morgan State has gone 7-20 this season, posting a 5-9 mark in MEAC play. The Bears are 6-5 at home (Hill Field House) and 1-15 on the road. They have lost their last seven road MEAC games and 12 road games overall.
 
EAGLES AT HOME
· Coppin State holds a 5-6 home record in the Physical Education Complex this season. The Eagles are 3-4 in home MEAC games and recently beat NC Central 71-60 in their last home contest.  In the month of February the Eagles are 2-1 in the PEC Arena with their largest margin of victory coming against Howard (Feb. 13) 90-66.
 
KESSEE SHOOTS LIGHT OUT
· Junior guard Christian Kessee leads the Eagles in points (14.2 ppg), field goals made  (4.6 per game), 3-Point FGs made (2.7 per game), free throw percent (81.1 %), and in minutes (31.7). He scored in double figures 21 times this season and in six consecutive games. Six times this season he has made four or more three-pointers in a game. He tied a career-high scoring 27 points twice in the month of February.
 
HARRIS HITS THE BOARDS
· Junior forward Terry Harris Jr. averages 7.1 rebounds per game. Ten times this season he grabbed double digit rebounds and has eight double-double performances. In MEAC games, the Eagles are 4-1 when Coppin State wins the rebounding battle and are 0-7 when the opponents have more.
