RESULTSDOVER – The Lady Eagles tennis team opened their 2016 season on the road against Delaware State University on Saturday, February 13
th. Coppin State suffered a 6-1 loss in their first match of the year.
Coppin State's senior
Carentxa Goede picked up a victory in No. 1 singles defeating Delaware State's Shelby Moffat by a 6-3, 6-1 score. The Hornets regrouped in the rest of the single matches cruising to five straight wins and downing the Eagles for a 6-1 final.
In No. 2 singles action senior
Ashley Milo fell 6-1, 6-2. Senior
Miranda Taylor (6-0, 6-0) and freshmen
Precious Udofe (6-0) loss at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively while freshmen
Tanna Nita competed in No. 5 singles and loss 6-1.
The duo of Goede and Milo teamed up in doubles action and were downed 6-1 to Delaware State's team of Colleen Beck and Milan Graves.
The Lady Eagles fall to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in MEAC play. Their next match will be at home on March 11
th against Longwood University at 10:30 a.m.
