BALTIMORE- After a long holiday break and a tough non-conference schedule complete, the Coppin State men's basketball team will open up the New Year with its first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) road game of the season.
CSU (2-13, 0-2) will travel to the nation's capital to square off against the Howard Bison on Saturday January 9 in Burr Gymnasium at 4:00 p.m.
The Bison won both matchups against the Eagles last season.
Kessee leads the team with 31 made 3-point field goals. He is eighth in the MEAC in 3-pointers made. He is also second on the team with 27 assists so far this season. Kessee is shooting 80.0 from the charity stripe, ninth in the MEAC,
Kessee tied his career high with five made 3-point baskets against Iowa State. He finished the game with 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting from down town and a career best seven assists. Kessee has 10 double figure scoring games this season.
Terry Harris Jr., leads Coppin State in rebounding (5.8 rpg). He is tied for 50th nationally with five double doubles on the year. He is in the top 15 in the MEAC in rebounding (13th), blocked shots (15th) and offensive rebounding (11th).
Harris Jr., leads CSU with 12 blocks and is second on the team with eight double digit scoring performances. He has two of Coppin State's four 20+ points in a game. He scored 26 against Goldey-Beacom and 27 against San Francisco.
Sylvester is scoring at a 10.3 point per game clip. He is first in the MEAC in 3-point field goal percentage with an impressive 47.1% accuracy on 16-of-34 shooting from beyond the arc. His 16 made 3-pointers are second on the team.
The 6'0 guard has been a beast on the offensive boards leading Coppin State with 36 offensive rebounds. He is averaging 4.3 rebounds per game.
Joshua Treadwell is adding in the 10.0 and 3.5 rebounds points per contest. He scored a team high 21 points against Iowa State on a career best five made 3-pointers.
Treadwell has eight double figure scoring games this season. He is shooting 81.8% from the foul line, fifth in the MEAC.
Junior
Trevon Seymore is posting solid numbers across the board. He is putting in 9.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals on a team high 29.3 minutes of action. He is in the top 10 in the MEAC in assists (6th), steals (8th) and free throw percentage (4th).
Seymore leads the Eagle in assists (47), steals (18), free throw percentage (83.0%) and minutes played through 14 games.
Meanwhile, the Howard Bison (7-9, 1-1) are coming off an 84-81 loss at home to Cornell on Wednesday January 6.
James Daniel III leads the Bison and MEAC with 28.5 points per game. Damon Collins is adding 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds for Howard.
Coppin State will have next week off before continuing its road conference schedule when the team travels to Daytona Beach, FL to take on Bethune-Cookman on Saturday afternoon January 16 in Moore Gymnasium at 4:00 p.m.?
