Caddle-Hope & Daniel Leads Coppin State at Great Dane Classic

STATEN ISLAND –
The women's track and field team at Coppin State University competed at the 13th annual Great Dane Classic hosted by the University of Albany on Saturday, January 16th. The Lady Eagles improved with eight season-best marks led by seniors Deandra Daniel and Melissa Caddle-Hope.

Deandra Daniel placed second overall, but first amongst collegiate competitors in the women's high jump event at 1.75m (5' 8.75"). Her mark ranks second amongst the MEAC in the high jump event and is also a seasonal best mark.

Khemani Roberts recorded a season-best measure of 1.70m (5'7") in the women's high jump event. Roberts finished seventh overall as Coppin State had two top-10 finishers in the event. In the women's long jump event, Randi Bohler's 17th place finish topped the Lady Eagles with a season-best mark of 5.23m (17' 2"). Khemani Roberts was 20th overall with another season-best mark of 5.12m (16' 9.75").

Senior Melissa Caddle-Hope shined in the women's 400m event placing fourth overall but third in her heat with a season-best time of 55.56 seconds. Caddle-Hope leads the MEAC in the 400m event with her performance and currently ranks 22nd in the nation.

In addition to Caddle-Hope in the 400m dash Alexis Marsh finished with a season-best time of 58.74 seconds placing 30th overall and fifth in her heat. Kadeem Curtis had a solid outing in the women's 800m with a season-best time of 2:27.07 that placed her 39th overall and 4th in her heat.

Coppin State's 4x400m relay team of Melissa Caddle-Hope, Kadeem Curtis, Alexis Marsh, and Jasmyne Johnson placed sixth in their event and first in their heat with a season-best time of 3:53.96. The Lady Eagles time ranks fourth in the MEAC.

The Lady Eagles will head back to Staten Island, NY for their next meet on Friday, January 22nd competing at the NYC Gotham Cup.
