BALTIMORE – In an odd twist of scheduling, four of Coppin State's six spring sport teams will spend Wednesday in Philadelphia competing against three of the five programs within the city limits.

The Coppin State men's and women's tennis teams will battle Temple University at 11 a.m. at the TU Pavilion. It will be the Eagles' final road game of the season. Later in the afternoon, the Eagles softball team takes on Drexel at the Drexel Softball Field in west Philadelphia while the baseball team battles La Salle at Hank DeVincent Field. Both of those games start at 3:00 p.m.

Of course, all of this is weather-pending since the forecast calls for a chilly wet and dreary drizzle for most of the day in the city of Brotherly Love.

Later this month, the Coppin State men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the annual Penn Relays at Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.

Members of the American Athletic Conference, both of Temple's tennis teams are above .500. The men are 11-9 overall following a 7-0 loss to Navy. Temple's women are 15-6 and have won three consecutive matches, including a 7-0 win over Maryland Eastern Shore.

Leading Coppin State's tennis teams are freshman David Ogan, who has three victories. On the women's side Carentxa Goede, Ashley Milo and Miranda Taylor have won two matches each.

In the baseball matchup, both Coppin State (2-23 overall) and La Salle (14-16) are coming off losses on Tuesday.

The Eagles lost to Georgetown 10-4 despite pounding out 13 hits. Jeffrey Fitch, who is Coppin State's second leading hitter with a .300 average, had three hits. George Dragon leads Coppin State and is sixth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with a .354 batting average. He had his 11th multi-hit of the season against the Hoyas.

La Salle got two hits from Derek Prucnal during its loss to Rider. The Explorers are members of the Atlantic-10 Conference. The Explorers boast six players that hit above .300. Justin Korenblatt leads La Salle with a .389 average. He has 49 hits and 30 RBIs, which is tied for the team lead with Cameron Johnson, who is hitting at a .354 clip.

Meanwhile, the Coppin State softball team is looking to get back on track despite losing three games to Howard over the weekend, including Monday's heartbreaking 7-6 walk-off loss. Candice Van Horn currently leads the Eagles' offense with a .438 average and 21 hits in 48 at-bats. Shelby Mendoza enters the game with a career-best 10-game hitting streak.

The Dragons (12-12) are coming off of a series win against conference opponent UNCW last weekend. Drexel earned victories in two out of three games to win its first CAA series of the season. Senior Sylvia Llamas earned CAA Co-Player of the Week honors for her performance which featured seven hits in 11 appearances, while sophomore pitcher Taylor Lee picked up her ninth win of the season while going 2-0 on the weekend.

All three teams are home this weekend. The baseball and softball teams host Delaware State in crucial MEAC doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. Tennis hosts Morgan State Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.
