2015 (Senior): Named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District ® II Softball Team, All-MEAC first team, College Sports Madness All-MEAC first team and 2015 MEAC Preseason second team…started in all 36 games…led the team with a .400 batting average, .700 slugging percentage, .514 on-base percentage, 11 doubles, 19 RBIs and 11 stolen bases…her batting average (6th), slugging percentage (4th) on-base percentage (3rd) and doubles (T3rd) ranked in the MEAC…tallied nine multi-hit games with seven doubles, a triple and a grand slam…finished the season on a seven-game hitting streak…she batted .500 and earned nine hits during her streak…reached base in the last eight games…had six multiple RBI games…batted .300 or better in 25 games and .400 or better in eight games… In a three-game series sweep of UMES (Mar. 31-Apr. 1), she had eight hits, six runs, three RBIs, two doubles, two triples and three stolen bases with a .727 batting average…tallied three runs, two hits and an RBI against Delaware State (Apr. 13)…against Morgan State (May 2) she had two runs, two hits and two RBIs…in her final career at-bat against MSU (May 3), she knocked in a run for the third straight game…on the mound, she had a 4-7 record and pitched 73.0 innings…for her career, Van Horn has a .343 batting average, played in 136 games, tallied 120 hits, 98 runs, 59 RBIs, 26 doubles, 14 homeruns and 29 multi-hit games.
2014 (Junior): Was named to the All-MEAC Softball Academic Team, the MEAC Commissioner’s All-Academic Team, All-MEAC first team and College Sports Madness All-MEAC first team, after leading Coppin State in batting average (.410), runs scored (38), total bases (85), slugging percentage (.726), hits (48), triples (three), walks (16), on-base percentage (.504), home runs (eight), hit by pitches (six), and stolen bases (18). Nationally, Van Horn ranked 44th in runs per game, 53rd in stolen bases per game, 55th in slugging percentage, 68th in on-base percentage and 69th in batting average. She led the MEAC in runs per game and was second in slugging and on-base percentage. Van Horn was sixth in the MEAC in batting average. She was second on the team with 19 RBIs. Van Horn also led Coppin State with 11 multi-hit games including a four-hit effort against Howard on April 5 in which she hit a pair of home runs. In a doubleheader sweep against Bowie State on March 12, Van Horn was a combined 6-for-11 with six RBIs, six runs scored, two doubles and two homers. She had two games this season in which she hit two home runs each: Howard and Bowie State. She had a 15-game hitting streak (March 1-April 1). During her hitting streak, Van Horn had eight multi-hit games and produced a batting average of .460 (23-for-50). Also as a pitcher, she made 10 appearances and had a 8.40 earned run average. She earned her first career save against McDaniel on April 9 after allowing one run over two innings. Against Bethune-Cookman in the MEAC tournament, Van Horn pitched three scoreless innings and struck out three batters. She struck out a season-high four batters against Norfolk State on March 23. She helped the Eagles qualify for the MEAC tournament for the fifth straight season.
2013 (Sophomore): Appeared in 18 games and made 16 starts…led the Eagles with a .378 batting average…tallied 14 hits and 19 runs…recorded seven RBIs…had four multiple hit games with a hit in each of the final four games of the season…reached base seven consecutive times…topped the team a .521 on-base percentage…best performance came against St. Peter’s March 2 where she had three runs, two hits, and an RBI on a .357 batting average.
2012 (Freshman): Appeared, and started, all 42 games on the season…was third on the team with 17 runs scored…second on the team with two home runs…tied for third on the team with 11 walks…was 6-for-7 in stolen bases…led the team with 83 assists from her shortstop position…finished the season with a .210 batting average…had three doubles, two triples and two home runs…had five multiple-hit games…was tied for second on the team with three multiple-RBI games…hit .333 (6-for-18) over the final eight games of the season…had two doubles and a home run during that stretch…was 7-for-11 in the Eagles first three games of the season at South Carolina State (2/25-26)…was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and a career-high four RBI in game three of the series (2/26)…was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI versus Hampton (4/28)…went 2-for-3 with a run scored against Siena (3/11)…had two hits in three at-bats against Fairleigh Dickinson (3/3)…drove in two runs in game one of a doubleheader against Hampton (4/28)…was 1-for-6 with a run scored and an RBI in the MEAC Tournament…had a career-high two stolen bases versus Brown (3/17).
High School: Attended Hazleton Area High School…earned four letters in softball…was named the Wyoming Valley Player of the Year as a senior…hit .750 in conference play and .696 overall…had 29 runs batted in and hit five home runs…was named to the Citizen’s Voice and the Times Leader all-star teams in 2011, 2010 and 2009…also played basketball for the Cougars.
Personal: Was born Sept. 12…majoring in criminal justice…member of the National Honor Society…named to the Hazleton Area Honor Roll.
