BALTIMORE -- After playing four matches in five days in two different states, the Coppin State women's tennis team will welcome Tuesday's off-day.
Â
For junior
Miranda Taylor, it'll be an opportunity to rest and conquer her cold. Despite being under the weather, Taylor came through with a victory at No. 3 singles on Saturday as the Eagles lost to St. Francis University of Brooklyn, 4-3.
Â
"I was just hitting and being consistent during that match," Taylor said of her effort against St. Francis. "Even though I wasn't feeling well, I just wanted to stay focused. During my breaks, I sat down and drank as much fluids as I could before continuing the match. I am looking forward to taking a break."
Â
Taylor along with
Carentxa Goede and
Ashley Milo were all victorious in their singles matches against the Terriers. Between the three players, the Eagles cruised dropping two of the 38 points scored in the match. Taylor was a 6-1, 6-0 winner. Goede captured her match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 and Milo won her contest 6-0, 6-1.
Â
Even though Coppin State dropped all four matches last week to Towson, St. Francis, Hampton and undefeated Delaware State Monday afternoon, the team was competitive and turned in some strong performances in defeat.
Â
Goede dropped a hard-fought three-set decision to Hampton's Pierre in a thriller. Goede won the first set, 7-5 before falling 6-1, 10-2 in the final two sets. Against Delaware State, Milo battled in a strong match before coming up short, 6-1, 6-4.

Coppin State women concludes its 2015 season with a road match Wednesday at Temple University and a home contest against cross-town rival Morgan State Friday morning.
