BALTIMORE – The Coppin State baseball team will get a second chance to make a first impression when it visits Georgetown Tuesday night beginning at 7:00 p.m. from Shirley Povich Field in a non-conference contest.

The Georgetown-Coppin State game will broadcast live via HoyaVision, accessible through the Georgetown Athletics official website - www.GUHoyas.com - with Kyle Meyer calling play-by-play. Live stats can also be found on GU's website.

It's the first of two mid-week night road games for the Eagles this week. They will travel to UMBC Wednesday night. First-pitch from Alumni Field is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. There will be a live video stream of the game.

Coppin State (3-29-2 overall) dropped a 10-4 decision to Georgetown (17-17) two weeks ago at Bachman Park. In that game, the Eagles left 18 runners on base. The Eagles dropped a pair of close games to UMBC last season.

The Eagles have tied two of their last three non-conference contests since April 8. Coppin State tied La Salle and Towson. The Eagles are coming off a rough three-game weekend series against Norfolk State in which they hit .173 as a team.

It didn't help that the Eagles were missing their leading hitter George Dragon, who missed the series because he was under the weather. He is hitting at .319 and leads the Eagles in hits (38) and slugging percentage (.403). In another game against the Spartans, the Eagles played without their second leading hitter, Jeffrey Fitch, a senior with a .283 average.

That's like not having LeBron James and Kyrie Irving playing. Well, maybe that's a stretch, but you get the idea.

Colin Dower, Jack Kraft and Bryant Miranda stepped up in their absence. They were Coppin State's offensive leaders against Norfolk State. Dower had his team-leading fourth three hit game in the opener of the three-game series. Kraft had hits in each game of Saturday's doubleheader. Miranda continued his hot streak by blasting a home run on Sunday.

In five games last week, Miranda slugged two home runs, drove in six runs, produced a .316 batting average and a .632 slugging percentage. He drove in four runs in a single game for the first time in his career against Towson Tuesday to start the week. Miranda closed the week with his ninth multi-hit effort of the season.

In the first match-up against the Hoyas this season, five different Coppin State players finished with at least two hits. Fitch produced his first three-hit game of the season. Miranda, Kraft, Dragon and Darien Percell all had two hits each.

Meanwhile, Georgetown is coming off a 10-1 victory over Stony Brook on Sunday that stopped a three-game losing streak.

Shortstop Ryan Busch had two of three home runs hit by the Georgetown baseball team on Sunday as every starter had at least one hit. Busch finished with a perfect 4-for-4 day, also adding a triple and a double to finish a single short of the cycle. He had 13 total bases and had four RBI to earn a spot on the Big East weekly honor roll for the second time in his career. AC Carter also added a two-run home run.

UMBC will visit Navy Tuesday before hosting Coppin State. UMBC went 2-4 last week, grabbing wins against Mount St. Mary's (20-5) and UMass Lowell (6-2).
Nick Naumann leads the squad hitting .330 on the year, going 36-109 from the dish. Naumann has smacked a one home run, while driving in 19 and swiping six bases. Hunter Dolshun is the only other Retriever hitting over .300, hitting a staunch .304 on the year. Dolshun has scored 17 runs, driving in 18 with eight doubles on the season.

Conrad Wozniak has been stellar for the Retrievers this year on the hill. Wozniak has a 1.28 ERA in 42.1 IP. Conrad has struck out 35 batters, while walking just nine. Rookie Matt Chanin has been equally as impressive, hurling a 2.55 ERA over seven appearances, going 3-1 in those games.
Following the mid-week games, Coppin State battles Delaware State in its final weekend home series of the season. Saturday will be Alumni Day and Sunday will be Senior Day.
