SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Coppin State's baseball team split an NEC doubleheader at Le Moyne on Sunday afternoon at Dick Rockwell Field, winning game one, 16-9, before dropping the nightcap, 10-6.  The Eagles now stand at 4-18 overall and 4-8 in the NEC while the Dolphins move to 6-16 on the year and 6-6 in league play.

Game 1: Coppin State def. Le Moyne, 16-9

Armando (AJ) Hurtado and Nelson Grajales both homered while Noah Hogan, Kenan Harvey and Jordan Treadwell all had two-hit games. Grajales and Harvey had three RBI apiece, followed by Pedro Agosto, Hurtado and Terrell Milliner drove in two runs each.

Dillon Kirksey received the win, allowing five earned runs while striking out five batters in 6.1 innings of work.  Justin Ritz threw the final 2.2 innings and gave up just one earned run on one hit.

Hurtado slugged a solo home run with two outs in the top of the first, and following a single by Angel Garcia and a walk issued to Harvey, Grajales pulled a shot over the left field fence to give the Eagles a 4-0 lead.

Le Moyne got one run back in its half of the first, which CSU answered in the second as Garcia drew a walk with the bases loaded.  Once again, the Dolphins put one run across in their half of the inning, and it was replicated in the third as well with an RBI single by Milliner in the top, followed by an RBI groundout by the hosts to make it a 6-3 score.

Both teams went scoreless in the fourth before the Eagles put a four-spot on the scoreboard in the fifth. Marcus Sanders scored the first run of the inning on a wild pitch before Agosto drove in two runs with a single up the middle, followed by an RBI single by Harvey.

Following a two-run fifth by Le Moyne, both teams failed to score in the sixth before having big innings in the seventh.  The Eagles scored six runs in the inning on RBIs from Hurtado, Harvey, Treadwell and Milliner before Le Moyne extended the game with three runs to make it 16-8 in favor of the Navy & Gold.

Le Moyne mustered just one run in the ninth as Coppin tied the series at a game apiece.
