Baseball Drops Midweek Tilt at Local Rival, Towson

TOWSON, Md. – Coppin State's baseball team fell at local rival, Towson, 18-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Schuerholz Park.  The Eagles now stand at 4-19 overall while the Tigers improved to 11-14 on the year.

Noah Hogan had two of Coppin's three hits, including driving in the team's lone run with an RBI single in the seventh, while also drawing a walk. Jordan Treadwell had the other base hit, scored a run and also drew a walk.

Abel Ortiz got the start on the mound and allowed six runs while striking out two in the first 2.0 innings. Aaden Lopez and Keith Wallace followed and combined to give up nine earned runs before Edwin Sanchez threw 2.2 scoreless innings while allowing just one walk.

Towson scored three runs in each of the first two innings before pulling away with a nine-run third and three-run fourth.  Coppin scored in the seventh but was unable to extend the game any further.

Treadwell started it with a one-out single before getting into scoring position on a wild pitch. A fielder's choice moved him to third and he scored on Hogan's single to the right side.

The Eagles head to Norfolk State for a three-game NEC series on April 2-4.
