COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. –
Melissa Caddle-Hope was a double event winner for the Coppin State women's track and field team at the Ursinus Collegeville Invitational Friday night at the Floy Bakes Fieldhouse.
Caddle-Hope's effort helped Coppin State score 100 points, which was the most of any school at the meet. The Eagles were one of four Division I teams that competed along with Saint Joseph's, Delaware State and George Washington during the meet featuring many Division III schools.
Caddle-Hope won the 60-meter dash (7.88 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (25.46) to lead the Eagles.
Tanaya Yarde also won the 400-meter dash (59.27) and was second in the 200 (25.51) for Coppin State. The Eagles scored 47 of their points in the 60 and 200-meter dashes Friday night.
The following athletes were second in their respective events:
Randi Bohler (60-meter hurdles),
Danielle Baker (long jump),
Miriam Ekwuru (400-meter dash) and
Kadeem Curtis (800 in a personal best time of 2 minutes, 26.73 seconds). Bohler was also third in the long jump. Meanwhile,
Alexis Marsh finished third in the 200 and fourth in the 60-meter dash.
The Eagles return to action this weekend as some women compete at Penn State on Friday and Saturday while others will participate in a meet at George Mason on Saturday.
