2015: He appeared in 19 games and made three starts. He finished with 18 strikeouts in 38.1 innings. Rabb had a 7.28 earned run average. He struck out a career best four batters in 3.1 innings against UMES on April 3 in his first start of the season. Rabb had four games this season in which he didn’t allow a run.
A homegrown talent who attended Baltimore’s Western High, Rabb comes to Coppin State from Community College of Baltimore County-Catonsville. He led the 2014 CCBC-Catonsville baseball team with a 2.66 ERA. In 12 appearances as a reliever and spot starter covering 23.2 innings, he posted a 1-0 record while giving up seven earned runs on 18 hits with seven walks and eight strikeouts.
In 2013 for the Cardinals, he posted an 0-2 record with a 4.06 ERA covering 24.1 innings pitched. He gave up 11 earned runs on 27 hits with 19 walks and 18 strikeouts. Rabb was born and raised in Peoria, Arizona. Rabb is in the process of earning his Associates Degree in Business Administration. He was on the Dean’s List and represented the CCBC-Catonsville baseball program by speaking at the Hubert V. Simmons Museum Ribbon Cutting Ceremony where he was among greats who has played the game that he loves so much.
“Desean rounds out an impressive 2014 recruiting class for us, which saw us focus on bringing in experience collegiate players from the junior college ranks to mesh with an already talented upper class,” Reed said. “Desean led a very good Catonsville team in earn run average coming out of the bullpen. He attacks the strike zone and forces the opposition to place the ball in play. With all of our projected weekend starters returning, I’m excited about the pitching talent we have been able to bring in.”
