NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State University track & field legend
Christina Epps has been selected for induction into the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Hall of Fame, recognizing one of the most accomplished student-athletes in the history of Coppin State Athletics and the conference.
Epps joins fellow inductees "Cy" Alexander (South Carolina State), Rod Broadway (North Carolina A&T), Reggie Holmes (Morgan State) and William Judson (South Carolina State) in the 2027 MEAC Hall of Fame Class. The five inductees will be enshrined during the week of the 2027 MEAC Basketball Tournament, March 10-13, in Norfolk, Va.
Tickets are now available to purchase for the 2027 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The ceremony will take place at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel in Norfolk, Va., on Thursday, March 11. Fans may purchase individual tickets for $65 or a table of eight for $520.
Souvenir program advertisement opportunities are available to honor the 2027 Hall of Fame inductees. Full-page color ads are available for $500, while full-page black-and-white ads are $300.
A six-time MEAC Champion and two-time USTFCCCA All-American in the triple jump, Epps dominated the event during her career with the Eagles. She swept the MEAC indoor and outdoor triple jump titles in both 2011 and 2014 and capped her collegiate career by placing among the nation's top 16 in the event both indoors and outdoors in 2014.
Epps also enjoyed tremendous success at the ECAC Championships, earning three medals in the triple jump, highlighted by winning the 2012 ECAC Indoor Championship.
Her success continued on the national and international stage following her graduation from Coppin State. Epps represented the United States of America in the triple jump at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro after finishing second at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Competing against the world's best, she placed 15th overall at the Olympics with a leap of 14.01m (45' 11.75").
Epps remains the record holder in the triple jump for both Coppin State and the MEAC. She owns the conference and school indoor record of 43' 2.50" and the outdoor record of 43' 11.75", while recording a personal best mark of 14.18m (46' 6.25").
A multi-sport standout during her time at Coppin State, Epps was also a member of the Eagles' volleyball team. She held the Coppin State single-match record for hitting percentage in a three-set match for 11 years and, upon graduation, ranked among the program's top ten in career blocks. Epps also served as an assistant for current CSU head coach
Tim Walsh for two seasons (2017-18).
Epps was selected as the 2014 MEAC Woman of the Year and an NCAA Woman of the Year Top 30 finalist which honors the top graduating student-athletes who have excelled in academics, athletics, community service and leadership. She was inducted into the Coppin State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2025.
Following her athletic career, Epps transitioned into collegiate athletics administration. She currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Diversity & Inclusion at Swarthmore College after previously working in compliance at both Coppin State and Delaware State University.
