NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Nelson Lamizana has been named the MEAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is the second time this season that Lamizana has received the award.
A freshman from West Chester, Pa., Lamizana tallied ten points with five rebounds and an assist in Coppin's win at Delaware State to open conference play on Saturday. Lamizana hit 3-of-6 shots from the field with a pair of threes and sunk both of his free throw attempts.
Lamizana is averaging 6.7 points and 2.8 rebounds this season while shooting 45.9% from the floor and 13-of-14 (92.9%) from the line. He has reached double figures in scoring in five of his 11 games.
