2025 HOF Series Baltimore on November 3, 2025

Men’s Hoops To Open 2025-26 Season vs. Maryland at CFG Bank Arena as Part of HOF Series

| By:
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Coppin State's men's basketball team will open the 2025-26 season against the University of Maryland on November 3 at CFG Bank Arena, it was announced by Position Sports on Wednesday, in partnership with the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. This marks the Hall of Fame's return to the Charm City following last year's debut event.

Maryland holds a 2-1 edge in the all-time series, with all three matchups taking place in College Park. The Eagles earned a 70-53 victory in the first meeting on December 12, 1989, with current Coppin State head coach Larry Stewart starring as a forward on that Coppin State team. The Terrapins then posted a 95-79 win on November 25, 2022, and a 75-53 victory in the last meeting on December 28, 2023.

"It's a great opportunity for our program and institution to be a part of this HOF Series Baltimore to kick off the season," said Stewart.  "I am excited for our guys and our fans as we get to play against a top-tier program like Maryland, who welcomes new Head Coach Buzz Williams, right out of the gate. I'm expecting CFG Bank Arena to be sold out with both of our school's fan bases in the building along with the great sports fans in the City of Baltimore."

The 2025 Hall of Fame Series will feature a doubleheader of local matchups, headlined by the Eagles taking on the Terrapins. Towson will also take on Loyola Maryland at the event with details regarding times, tickets, broadcast coverage and media credentials announced at a later date.

"Returning to Baltimore for a second year demonstrates the growing excitement around the Hall of Fame Series and the region's passion for college basketball," said Melissa Meacham-Grossman, President of Position Sports. "With Maryland headlining alongside respected local programs like Coppin State, Towson, and Loyola, this event highlights the incredible basketball tradition in and around Baltimore. It's an honor to partner with the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame to bring these matchups back to the world-class CFG Bank Arena."
