TOWSON, Md. – Coppin State's 4x100m Relay team of
Gifty Oku,
Benidicta Kwartemaa,
Kyah La Fortune and
Halutie Hor took gold at the Towson Twilight Open over the weekend in a school-record 44.85 at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
The quartet blew out the competition, defeating the host Tigers by nearly a full second and besting the old CSU school-record of 44.92 which was ran at the 2023 MEAC Championships. Coppin's time ranks just 38
th nationally, 19
th in the East Region and second in the MEAC.
Hor and La Fortune went third and fourth, respectively, in the 100m dash in times of 11.76 and 12.09. The duo also took third and fourth in the 200m dash, with La Fortune getting the better hand of Hor, 24.27 to 24.29.
Oku also medaled in the 400 dash, clocking a 56.44 to take third overall with Kwartemaa covering the distance in 1:00.24.
Tracey Riley finished fifth in the 800m (2:29.60) with
Nackera Allen clocking a 12.71 in the 100m.
In her season debut,
Karima Davenport-White ran the 100m hurdles in 17.05 while
Raniya Perry threw the shot put 10.03m (32' 11").
The Eagles compete at the Morgan State Legacy on April 18-19 before the Penn Relays on April 24-26.
