NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Toby Nnadozie was named the MEAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This is the first weekly award that Nnadozie has earned with the Eagles.
A junior from Baltimore, Md., Nnadozie averaged 27.0 points on 23-of-32 (71.9%) shooting while leading Coppin to a win over Howard and a tough loss at Delaware State last week. Nnadozie also hit seven 3-pointers and put up 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in those games.
In the victory against the Bison, Nnadozie scored 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting to go with a career-high five 3-pointers. He also added a block and three steals. Two days later, he put up a career-high 29 points while making 13-of-18 shots from the floor to along with four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
For the season Nnadozie is averaging 12.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and a league-high 2.5 steals per game. Nnadozie has upped his production in MEAC play, ranking tenth in the league with 15.2 points along with 3.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.5 steals.
Nationally, Nnadozie stands seventh with 70 steals and 2.50 steals per game.
