BALTIMORE – Coppin State tennis coach
Ebonye Jones announced her first signee for the 2024-25 season on Monday, revealing that
Sky Carter (Bethesda, Md. / Walter Johnson HS) will join the women's team.
A native of nearby Bethesda, Md., Carter won the 2023 MPSSAA Mixed Doubles Championship as a junior and was a Washington Post All-Met Honorable Mention selection. Carter will major in Biology in hopes of being a doctor and is a recipient of the Fanny Jackson Coppin Scholarship.
"The energy around the Coppin State Tennis program is electric, and a huge part of that is thanks to our newest recruit,
Sky Carter!" said Jones. "We're not just bringing in a talented athlete – a 2023 MPSSAA State Champion is a fantastic addition to any team – but also a dedicated scholar with the prestigious Fanny Coppin Jackson Scholarship under her belt."
"This is a new era for Coppin State Tennis, and Sky's focus on teamwork and growth alongside her fellow players perfectly aligns with the vision we're building. She prioritizes both academics and athletics, demonstrating a commitment to organization and time management that will be invaluable."
