BALTIMORE – Halutie Hor and
Nackera Allen led the way for the Coppin State women's track & field team at the Morgan State Legacy over the weekend. The Eagles finished eighth overall in the team standings.
Hor and Allen took second and third, respectively, in the 100m dash in 11.77 and 11.79. Allen also took sixth in the 200m dash (24.26), just ahead of Hor (24.53) and the duo ran the first two legs of the gold-medal winning 4x100m relay in 46.86. Following them were
Woizero Richards and
Benidicta Kwartemaa. Kwartemaa also competed in the 200m dash (25.07).
In the 400m hurdles,
Kaelyn Woodrum took seventh in a personal record 1:02.93, just ahead of
Destinee Lewis in 1:03.20, which was good enough for eighth place.
Tracey Riley also took eighth in the 400m dash (57.68), just ahead of
Brianna Benton's 58.61.
Erin Palmer and Richards both doubled up in open events with Palmer clocking a 12.54 in the 100m dash and a 15.00 in the 100m hurdles. Richards ran a 25.96 in the 200m dash and leaped 5.30m (17' 4.75") in the long jump.
Raniya Perry set a personal record in the shot put with a toss of 10.87m (35' 8").
The Eagles return to the track at the historic Penn Relays on April 25-27 at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
