Women’s Track’s Erin Palmer Wins 100m Hurdles at Maryland Invitational

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Erin Palmer's victory in the 100m hurdles highlighted Coppin State's women's track & field's day at a wet and windy Maryland Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
 
Palmer took the 100m hurdles in 14.59, matching a season-best and just off her personal-best of 14.47 set at last season's MEAC Championships.
 
Woizero Richards also medaled for the Eagles, taking second in the long jump with a leap of 5.12m (16' 9.75").
 
Brianna Benton doubled up in the 100m (12.98) and 200m (26.35), finishing just behind Kaelyn Woodrum in the 200m (25.86). Nackera Allen rounded out the sprinters' day with a 59.57 in the 400m dash.
 
Kimani Alphonse clocked a 2:21.76 in the 800m while Tracey Riley covered the event in 2:33.22.  In the 400m hurdles, Destinee Lewis led the way in 1:09.79 while Angel Davis finished in 1:18.47.
 
Raniya Perry threw the shot put 8.66m (28' 5").
 
Coppin State will send selected athletes to the Texas Relays on March 27-30, as well as the Towson Invitational on March 29.
