Four Eagles Win Events as Women’s Track Opens Outdoor Season at Towson

TOWSON, Md. – Nackera Allen (200m), Kimani Alphonse (400m), Erin Palmer (100m hurdles) and Woizero Richards (long jump) all won events as Coppin State's women's track & field opened the outdoor season at the Towson Spring Opener on Saturday at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
 
Allen took the 200m dash in 24.72 and also took second in the 100m dash in a wind-aided 12.07. Kaelyn Woodrum followed Allen in the 200m, taking second in 25.41, while also placing third in the 400m hurdles (1:03.37).
 
Alphonse was victorious in the 400m dash, covering the track in 56.07 while Palmer took the hurdles in 14.59.  Palmer also took fifth in the 200m (25.85).
 
Newly added to the roster, Richards leaped 17' 9" in the long jump to take the gold in the event.
 
Destinee Lewis doubled up in the 200m (26.33) and 400m hurdles (1:05.26) where she took fourth overall. Angel Davis also doubled in those events, clocking a 27.39 and 1:11.88, respectively.
 
Also, in the 400m dash was Brianna Benton (59.95) as Tracey Riley covered the 800m in 2:40.07.  Raniya Perry tossed the shot put 33' 10."
 
Coppin State returns to the track on March 22-23 at the Maryland Invitational.
