Alphonse, 4x400 Relay Leads Women’s Track at MEAC Indoor Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A trio of Eagles and the 4x400m Relay medaled to lead the Coppin State women's track & field team to a sixth-place finish at the MEAC Indoor Championships, held over the last three days at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
 
Kimani Alphonse took second in the 400m dash in 55.73 and led off the 4x400m Relay to the silver in 3:48.02. Following her in the relay was Tracey Riley, Halutie Hor and Destinee Lewis.
 
Hor also medaled in the 200m in 24.12, taking the bronze, and she also took fifth in the 60m dash in 7.58. Her time in the 200m was a personal record and the second-fastest time in CSU history.
 
Benidicta Kwartemaa and Nackera Allen both placed just behind Hor in  sixth place in the 60m dash (7.59) and 200m dash (24.42), respectively. Allen now ranks fourth in school history in the event.
 
Kaelyn Woodrum took the bronze in the pentathlon, finishing with 3,128 points.
 
Erin Palmer added two points for the Eagles in the 60m hurdles, clocking a personal record of 8.73 which is the second-fastest time in CSU history.
 
Raniya Perry also competed in the shot put and just missed out on points with a tenth-place finish in 9.87m.
 
The Eagles are slated to compete at the IC4A/ECAC Championships on March 1-3 at Boston University.
