Kwartemaa, Hor Post Top Five Times at Carolina Challenge

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Benidicta Kwartemaa and Halutie Hor posted top five finishes in their respective sprint events to lead the Coppin State women's track & field team this weekend at the Carolina Challenge, hosted by University of South Carolina.
 
Kwartemaa posted a 24.93 to finish second in the 200m college division while Hor matched her personal record time in the 60m (7.62), placing fifth overall while clocking the fourth fastest time in CSU history.
 
The Eagles had numerous athletes record stellar times in the short sprints. Kimani Alphonse went 25.12 in the 200m Invite and she finished just behind teammate Nackera Allen in the 60m with a 7.82 to Allen's 7.81. Erin Palmer and Tracey Riley finished the 200m in 25.66 and 25.81, respectively.
 
Palmer doubled in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.15, just behind Kaelyn Woodrum's time of 8.97. Riley led Coppin in the 400m in 59.19 and Raniya Perry tossed the shot put 30' 10.5."
 
Coppin returns to the track next weekend at the Penn State National Open on January 26-27.
