BALTIMORE – Coppin State men's basketball ushers in a new era as first-year head coach
Larry Stewart returns to his alma mater and revealed his 2023-24 season schedule today. Included in the docket are non-conference home games against local rivals, Towson and UMBC in November, as well as Wagner on December 6.
The Eagles open the season on November 6 at Virginia Tech before hosting Towson three days later on November 9. Coppin plays at Mount St. Mary's just after the home opener as part of a five-game road trip which is also comprised of Louisville, an MTE hosted by Miami (OH), and ends with a visit to Stewart's hometown of Philadelphia as CSU faces La Salle.
UMBC makes the short trip to PEC Arena on November 30, and the month of December features trips to Navy (Dec. 3), George Washington (Dec. 9), Georgetown (Dec. 12), James Madison (Dec. 19) and Maryland (Dec. 28).
Coppin will play all seven MEAC schools in a home-and-home, opening conference play with a trip to Delaware State on January 6. The Eagles host Maryland Eastern Shore two days later and welcome crosstown rival Morgan State to PEC Arena on January 20.
To close out the month of January, CSU travels to Norfolk State before hosting 2023 MEAC Champions, Howard, on January 29. In February, Delaware State comes to West Baltimore on February 17 and the Eagles welcome Norfolk State for Homecoming on Saturday, February 24.
Wrapping up the regular season, Coppin hosts North Carolina Central on March 2 and South Carolina State on March 4 before traveling to Morgan State in the finale on Thursday, March 7. The MEAC Tournament will be played at Norfolk Scope Arena from March 13-16.
