TOWSON, Md. – Coppin State's women's track & field team got a win by the 4x400m Relay and four other top five finishes at the Towson Spring Open this weekend at Johnny Unitas Stadium.
Closing out the meet, the quartet of
Gifty Oku, Destinee Mcloud, Brianna Benton and
Jahmei Wyatt took first in the 4x400m Relay in 3:49.13. Oku also led the Eagles with a fourth-place finish in the 400m dash (57.79) while Wyatt took fifth in the 1,500m Run (4:45.26). Wyatt's time was the fourth-fastest in CSU history.
In the 200m dash,
Halutie Hor clocked a 24.44 to finish third, followed closely by
Kimani Alphonse in fourth at 24.63.
Shenelle Tomlinson covered the 800m Run in 2:20.09, good for sixth overall.
Mcloud also finished the 200m dash in 25.43 while Benton finished the 400m dash in 59.60.
Angel Davis, Kaelyn Woodrum and
Saidai Stuteley all doubled up in various events. Davis PR'd in both the 200m dash (26.48) and 400m hurdles (1:08.95). Woodrum ran the 800m Run in 2:37.60 while clearing 4' 11" in the high jump. Stuteley finished the 1,500m in 5:23.21 while also running the 3,000m Steeplechase in 13:12.94.
In field events,
Serena Harrison leaped 15' 11.5" in the long jump,
Erin Palmer covered 31' 6" in the triple jump and
Raniya Perry tossed the shot put 30' 3.75."
Coppin is scheduled to compete at the South Florida Invitational on April 7-8 while select athletes will also run at the Howard Bison Invitational on Saturday.
