VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – After an impressive 2-0 victory over #5 Morgan State in the morning, Coppin State's run at the MEAC Bowling Championships came to an end on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 loss against fourth-seeded UAB at Pinboy's at the Beach.
Coppin dominated Morgan State, 999-837 in a traditional match to take a 1-0 lead over the Bears.
Elizabeth Stokley recorded a 255 in the match, the highest score by any Eagles player in traditional play this season.
Jalyne Myers also rolled a 214, followed by
Kaylah Castillo with a 197.
The Eagles took 4-of-5 baker style matches, 1,048-896, to advance and eliminate their archrival, which included an impressive 263-224 in the first match. Coppin recorded strikes in the first eight frames of the game. CSU also took the second match, 223-146, before falling in the third, but rebounded to take the next two.
In the elimination match against the Blazers, Coppin opened with an 887-865 victory in traditional play. Myers and
Xiani Carpenter both rolled over a 200 in the match, before UAB tied the match at 1-1 by taking four baker style matches, 820-800.
With the tied score, Coppin and UAB played another best-of-seven with the Blazers taking the series, 4-1.
