Multiple Games Won in Singles Matches, Coppin Falls to Hampton

Silver Spring, MD: Despite multiple games won in singles matches, the Eagles fell to Hampton, 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at Aspen Hill Club. The Eagles are now 0-3 for the season.  

At first doubles, Megan Etienne and Emperess Johnson matched up against Mio Kozaki and Diana Starodubtseva. The Eagles duo won two games before the match was deemed unfinished at 4-2. Mackenzie Jones and Keyange Kaounde won a game at second doubles against Angelina Blinova and Sofia Sokolova for a score of 6-1.  

In singles play, Indy Ampaw led the team with four games won in the first set at third singles against Sokolova.  

Jones grabbed three wins at second singles against Diana Starodubtseva. Kaounde also won three games total at number five singles against Lucia Fernandez.  

Etienne matched up against Blinova at first singles and won two games in the first set before the match went unfinished in set two. Johnson saw action at number four singles where she faced Mio Kozaki.  

Up Next: The Eagles will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on St. Joseph's on Saturday, February 11.
