Victory for Ampaw in Singles Match; Multiple Games Won in Loss to Lafayette

Easton, Pa: United Kingdom native India Ampaw lead the Eagles with a victory at third singles in a two-set match. Despite several games won in singles matches, and eight wins collectively at first and second doubles, the Eagles fell short to Lafayette 6-1 on Saturday, February 5th. The Eagles are now 0-2 for the season.  

At first doubles, the Eagles duo of Megan Etienne and Emperess Johnson won four games against Sparhawk and Boeckman. Mackenzie Jones and Kenyange Kaounde also tallied four wins at second doubles against Perdomo Campbell for a 6-4 loss.  

Ampaw defeated Perdomo at third singles in a two-set match. She crushed the first set 6-2 and went to win the match with a 6-3 victory in the second set.  

Etienne won seven games at first singles against Boeckman. Etienne gained a 4-0 advantage at the start of the first set. After a 5-5 tie, Boeckman pulled away to win the set 7-5.   Etienne compiled a pair of wins in the second set for a 6-2 defeat.  

Jones won five games in a two-set match against Merkel at second singles against Sparhawk with a score of 6-2 in the first set and 6-3 in the second set.  

 Kaounde won three games total at number five singles against Campell, while Johnson grabbed a pair of wins in the first set at number four singles against Merkel. 

Up Next: The Eagles will make a quick turnaround and host Hampton University at Aspen Hill Racket Club on Sunday, February 5th.
